What I Asked Former Sec. Mayorkas At The Airport

When I boarded my flight today to unfortunately travel to Washington, D.C., I had to do a double take when I saw a familiar face sitting in the first row of business class: It was President Joe Biden’s Homeland Security Secretary, Alejandro Mayorkas.

The last time I saw Mayorkas in person was during the 2021 Haitian bridge crisis in Del Rio, Texas. If you recall, that was when tens of thousands of Haitians illegally entered the U.S. within a week, overwhelming Border Patrol agents in the sector.

Mayorkas visited the bridge and held a press conference afterwards. I asked him if he would be willing to publicly call the border crisis a crisis, like he did privately when he thought no one was recording him, instead of a “challenge.”

Mayorkas immediately got defensive and said, “I’m going to stop you right there. Let me just say very clearly. We are focused on meeting the challenge, we are focused on the mission.”

He then went to the next reporter.

On Friday, I introduced myself when he got off the plane. I was surprised he stuck his hand out when I said I’m with Blaze Media.

But once I started to ask him how he felt about President Donald Trump actually securing the border, he didn’t answer.

He didn’t answer when I asked him if he regrets allowing Tren de Aragua into the country, if he regrets facilitating an open border, if he regrets losing track of tens of thousands of migrant children that were placed with suspicious “sponsors,” how it felt that the policies he followed resulted in mass deportations gaining a majority support.

After posting this video on X, many people said I was too nice to him. And I agree, but I wanted to maintain professionalism. This man was willing to go along with the deliberate invasion of our country the entire time! He could have quit, but he didn’t. He made his choice.

Like I wrote in my last piece, I spent a lot of time at the southern border during the Biden-Harris years. I’m glad I was able to do it, but it all could’ve been avoided. Instead, the Democrats wanted this. Thankfully voters said enough, but hopefully the damage is not permanently done.
