I admit I was caught off guard when it became known that Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D) was going to be Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate. For a brief moment, it could have been Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro because he’s a popular governor of a critical state for the election.
But the pro-Hamas wing of the Democratic Party wouldn’t allow that. If Harris did pick Shapiro, the upcoming DNC would have been even more explosive than it’s already set to be. Instead, the powers to be within Harris’ campaign decided Walz was the guy, even though it’s safe to assume Minnesota is going to go blue this election.
Since covering the BLM riots in Minneapolis, I’ve kept an eye on how Walz handled the state. In short, he is doing his best to make Minnesota an even worst Midwest state to live than Illinois.
Walz went full authoritarian during the COVID-19 pandemic, including setting up a hotline for people to report “violations,” but he decided to take his time cracking down on the BLM riots that raged for days across the river from St. Paul.
I vividly remember people constantly asking me where the National Guard was on that Thursday, May 28th. As with anything, deploying the Guard takes time, but it was clear Walz dithered on whether to call them up, even as Mayor Jacob Frey begged him to deploy the troops. Frey has his issues, but standing up the Guard fell on Walz, and Walz made sure to say the anger the rioters’ were feeling was justified.
He didn’t fully deploy the National Guard until the end May, which by then the Twin Cities had mostly calmed down. The damage was done, but it had spread across the country.
And that’s why those critical first few days was so disastrous for the whole country because far-left militants saw they could get away with a lot under liberal jurisdictions. The Minneapolis riots, under Walz’s watch, had set the tone for the rest of that chaotic year.
I explained more on Blaze News Tonight on how even when the Guard was finally out there, they were mainly for show.
For the military side of things, it is clear Walz embellished his career in the Minnesota National Guard. First, he knew he could be deployed to Iraq prior to submitting his retirement package. Which is why he submitted his retirement package so he could run for Congress. Yes, the official orders came after but, especially leadership positions like he was in, would know months in advance of potential deployments.
But worse than that, he did commit Stolen Valor when he said, while advocating for gun control, that he “carried a weapon of war in war…” It is simply not true. Walz is smart in that most times he kept it vague enough to the average civilian who would assume things that wouldn’t be true. At the same time, he was not vague or smart when he did state multiple times he retired as a sergeant major. He held the billet of sergeant major but, because he retired sooner than initially thought, his official rank was brought back down to master sergeant.
I don’t like people who commit Stolen Valor for obvious reasons, but I hold a special sort of contempt for military members who do it because civilians who pull Stolen Valor don’t know what’s it like to be in the military. But service members do, on some level, understand the sacrifices that go into whatever it is they’re claiming. They think they need to steal it in order to bolster whoever it is they are trying to impress or gain. In Walz’s case, it was his political career.
Walz, and service members like him, are Blue Falcons of the highest order. They know better. And they do it anyway.
Any servicemember or vet who is honest knows that military members are overwhelmingly pro-gun. Anyone who doubts this can look at the bumper stickers in the parking lots of any base. So if military experience gives credibility to one's opinion on guns, the anti-gun side loses in a rout. Anti-gun vets know this and make that kind of argument anyway, deliberately trying to fool the average person who probably doesn't know any better, in service of policies that would massively screw over their fellow vets. This is a longwinded explanation of why I think those people are total dirtbags.
I agree 100%! And all American citizens, not just military, should speak out against stolen valor to support those who fight for our country. It’s disgusting. And Harris used a clip of trump to make it sound like trump supported him. A total lie. Waltz supported the rioters and only sent in 90 NG initially until trump pushed him after they burned down PD headquarters. Lying cowards.
