Photos: Texas National Guard Holds The Line In Eagle Pass
Despite the recent Supreme Court ruling, Texas is adding more barriers to stop illegal immigration
EAGLE PASS, Texas — The riverfront by Shelby Park and the international bridges that lead into Mexico is almost unrecognizable from when the border crisis started to impact the area in 2021. Not only has the makeshift wall of shipping containers have been expanded along the Rio, but razor wire is now being placed by the Texas National and State Guard.
Engineers have been working around the clock to fortify the areas where illegal immigrants have been flooding into Eagle Pass. The Guardsmen created new designs, which combined fencing with razor wire, to prevent people from being able to climb over the shipping containers.
Three illegal immigrants from Venezuela were unable to cross into Texas despite making it onto the U.S. side of the river because of the additional barriers being installed by the Guardsmen.
