While being around fires isn’t exactly new for me, the reasons for the fires and how they were spreading were different.
Even though I didn’t spend my formative years in Los Angeles, I did spend quite a bit of time in Burbank when my Mom lived there until 2023. Through visits, I was able to see the reasons why people do love living there. I certainly saw why people wanted to escape.
Now, the very landscape was changing through the infernos that are still ravaging in different spot in the county. Even before leaving the airport, the air quality had degraded to the point where it caused a headache that didn’t stop until the flight back to Florida.
It remains to be seen how the fires actually started, but it appears some of them might have been caused by humans and not something like a downed power line. During the Kenneth Fire, which threatened Woodland Hills, I stopped at a bar for a Mexican Coco-Cola and the bartender said where the fire started, it was by a parking lot. If he had to put money on it, it was caused by a person.
In Atladena, burned down homes sometimes still had a fire in the wreckage due to still-active gas lines.
The following pictures were taken Wednesday through Saturday in Altadena, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, and Mandeville Canyon.
God bless them all
Great photos, thanks!
