The New York Times is not known for its honest reporting on basically any issue and the recent conflict between Israel and Hamas is no different. In a story published yesterday, the authors described the recent wave of pro-Palestinian protests in the United States as being “tone-deaf” with only chants of “free Palestine” and “blistering critiques of Israel”:
Several Palestinian Americans said they were frustrated by the bipartisan rush by U.S. politicians to support Israel, and by the way the conflict had been covered in American news outlets. Over the last few days, some have organized protests across the country that have included blistering critiques of Israel and calls to “free Palestine,” even amid criticism that such gatherings are tone-deaf.
This description of the recent protests could not be watered down anymore. The authors, of which there are four, seemed unable or unwilling to easily find the plethora of videos showing speakers and attendees specifically praising Hamas’ terrorist attacks last Saturday. In just one large gathering in New York City that I covered this past Sunday, there were multiple instances where they called the attackers, who raped, pillaged, and kidnapped, “freedom fighters” and cheered the number of rockets that had been fired at Israel. One speaker began her remarks by saying the world woke up to “wonderful” news on Saturday.

But it is not only one protest that has featured such blatant support for Hamas’ surprise attack that resulted in over 1,300 people being killed, often in brutal ways. In city after city, protest after protest, in many different countries, there are multiple examples of protesters going beyond having “critiques of Israel.”
Protesters at George Mason University chanted, “They’ve got tanks, we’ve got hang gliders, glory to the resistance fighters.”
Near the White House, protesters held a moment of remembrance “to honor our glorious martyrs.”
In Philadelphia, speakers said, to applause from the audience, “I salute Hamas for a job well done,” “When I heard [the news], I smiled,” and “Every person that died yesterday was not innocent!”
The protest flyer advertising a Palestine rally at the University of Washington featured a Hamas paraglider. Same with the rally at UNC-Chapel Hill.
Outside the Sydney Opera House, people chanted, “Gas the Jews!”
Examples go on and on. The crazy thing is those examples are only in-person protests. That list does not even begin to cover the different statements, often from college groups, who have shown their support for Hamas’ attack. Matthew Foldi from The Spectator has a good thread on Twitter/X here.
The flagrant cover the mainstream media is providing far-left protesters and ignoring what happened instantly brings me back to what they did during the BLM and Antifa riots in 2020. It is nothing new. It is to be expected. They are running the same playbook. Why? I don’t know for sure but I think part of it is because they seriously believe they are not conducting journalistic malpractice.
Whatever the case may be, one thing can be sure: the mainstream media will never accurately report on the far-left.
Of course they did. They are writing for five people and they all work there. Are they going to fire all the Pro-Israel Jews from the news board next? They're idiots.
So for the sake of the neighborhood, I wrote a letter. (P.S. NYTimes doesn't live here either. )
