4 Ways The BLM And Antifa Riots Were Worse Than January 6
As many of you know, but for those who don’t, I covered the 2020 BLM and Antifa riots and the riot at the Capitol on January 6, 2021. It’s due to that whole era of chaos and disorder that I have my book, “Fiery But Mostly Peaceful: The 2020 Riots and the Gaslighting of America,” which goes into detail about each riot.
Despite the riots being almost hard to miss, depending on your location, there are not many within the media who can say they extensively covered both events. That is why I have little interest in what most of the media say about the BLM “mostly peaceful” violence and J6.
It is because of my on-the-ground experience that I know the BLM and Antifa riots were more destructive, both short-term and long-term, to our country than the Capitol riot.
Here is why:
Reason 1: Breakdown in public safety
The breakdown of law and order during the BLM and Antifa riots is obvious. Bears repeating that even the “97 percent of BLM protests were peaceful” statistic means that within the 3 percent means over 500 violent incidents happened across the country that lasted for months. One police station was overrun and burned, another was evacuated and led to the creation of an “autonomous zone,” the White House perimeter was attacked, and a federal courthouse was under siege for over a month.
But once the rubble was cleared away and the National Guard was sent home, the criminal elements within our society saw just how much they were able to get away with, to little or zero consequences. It is why we saw a spike in crime in the years afterward and why the crime rate has not returned to pre-2020 levels. It is now considered “normal” to see looters come into a business, whether it be CVS or a luxury store, clean out merchandise and leave with people’s only recourse to call the police, who may or not show up because of the dramatic decrease in manpower, if they even bother to call the police.
It is why cities like San Fransisco’s business districts are in-name only, as many have closed for good due to the rampant crime and overall decrease in quality of life.
Take our nation’s capital. Washington, D.C. ended 2023 with a total of 273 murders. To find a murder rate higher than that, you have to go back to 1997. It also doesn’t even begin to touch on the city’s high carjacking and theft numbers.
Criminals have no more fear because why would they? They know the criminal justice system has switched to join their side because of “racism.” It is why the bail funds, which got an influx of funds in 2020 from ignorant, guilt-ridden liberals, have bailed out hardened criminals who went on to commit serious crimes after they were released. Even judges are constantly letting criminals out on the street when that is often the last place they should be.
Reason 2: Embolden the far-left for 2024
As I mentioned in the first reason, criminals saw what they were able to do and faced little consequences, if any at all. But it is not just the everyday criminal element, it is also the far-left groups that organized the “direct action” against law enforcement and minority neighborhoods whose destruction was considered acceptable collateral damage.
Many of the groups who caused chaos in 2020 have mobilized yet again, this time with Gaza being their rallying cry. They openly advertise on social media and face little pushback from the demoralized police force, knowing if they make arrests, they will quickly be back on the streets. While stopping traffic on busy highways is dangerous enough for innocent motorists, the anti-Israel coalition is taking it a step further by trying to disrupt airports. The protesters who do such actions are rarely arrested or their cars impounded.
With those asking why they would do such actions if they are trying to get people to join their side, the thing is that is not what they are trying to do. They are simply trying to make random Americans’ lives miserable to force them to get their lawmakers to bow to the groups’ demands. Like small businesses in 2020, the disruption or destruction is acceptable because the ends justify the means.
That is why as we’re now in an election year, they will be as motivated as ever to do radical things to get their way, and if they don’t, then they promise to do worse. The far-left knows they can get away with a lot and they will take advantage of it.
This is radically different from how conservatives protest in the aftermath of J6. Anytime there is a pro-Trump rally or generally conservative protest, many advocate for people to stay home to avoid any chance of a J6 and the federal government’s subsequent crackdown from happening again. The federal government is more concerned with pro-life protesters or parents at school board meetings to care about the far-left.
